The soft, cool wind flew through the room as Adura opened the door.

“Here you go,” one of the men offered, handing Sarai a bag of food containing mostly carrots, lettuce, and dried beans.

The men delivering food exclaimed “Listen, there’s a resident running around the city, he has suffered from a head injury and is confused. He believes he is from another world.”

The two men laughed hysterically and Adura laughed awkwardly along with them. I could see his face, so confused. The sweat was pouring down his face as he struggled with concealing the truth.

I hid behind the couch watching to see if Adura would give me up. I found it funny that the men delivering the food probably believed the lie also. Anything Ishmael tells them, they think it’s a righteous cause.

I paused for a moment; what if I really had died and gone to heaven? I had no proof that I wasn’t in heaven. My mind began to race; what if I had died and gone to hell instead?

“Well, if you see him, let us know,” the men said as they were leaving, initiating the disgusting and childish spit-full handshake I had seen done before.

I let out a deep sigh of relief as the men started walking away. “Wa—wait!” Adura called to them. The two men turned around; I couldn’t watch. Adura then paused as the men walked back towards him.

“Um, have a good night.” Adura called.

“Oh, alright, you too.” One responded before starting to walk away again.

“Thank you,” I said getting up.

“Tomorrow at Sabbath, you—,” Adura pointed at me, “you will learn the truth.” He had a depressed look on his face.
